startup items in msconfig and defender

I reinstalled the OEM Vista on my Gateway laptop and there was Microsoft
Userinit and explorer in msconfig. Now these are not in msconfig startup but
are in Defender startup. Is this normal? Also, the enable/disable buttons
are greyed out even though I clicked 'show for all users'.

    Hi RJ,

Yes, this is normal. Those are system files, and they cannot be altered in the "Startup Programs" area. You can take a look at this tutorial for a reference for this.
