He needs a connection manager. Vista has one, but many laptop makes supply one as well. The one that comes with IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads is more flexible, for example. ss. |

| | Re: Multiple LAN connections Wired ethernet and Dell Inspiron 1501. I have one (default) LAN connetction set up in the Vista connections manager that was present when got the laptop but when I attempt to set up another connection none of the choices allow the creation of another LAN connection, whenever I hookup at a different location I have to change the IP address and so on. Are you sure that these connections at your college are not using DHCP? If they did you could just use the button to automatically get the connection details in the Network Connection Properties. I use ThinkPad Access Connections on my laptop, and it works very well (on XP). Is there not anything like that which Dell has on their website? Maybe another Dell owner can answer this. ss. |

As far as I know none of these scenarios describe what I want to do. In XP there was a selection for LAN and setting one up was very easy!! |

That is not what you want to do, but as I am not currently using Vista, you need to get somebody else to show you right now. ss. |
