Most of them are just fancy window dressing just what the Linux advocates accuse vista of. Some of the effects look just like the window tearing you used to get on really low end graphics cards when you could first drag windows with content rather than just the frame.. I wonder how much time was spent getting that problem back? Yet again developers waste their time on fancy trimmings rather than making it easier for the user or adding some useful functionality! |

| | Re: 3d composition that puts vista to shame you do not understand.. these are only plugins that display the capabilities of the underlying structure. You can do anything with the structure and build other things that boost productivity. The fact is without a doubt that this 3d envoirnment can do what vista can, its free, and it uses older less powerfull cards too. Now only if they would port it to XP, so we could get a 3d enviornment without needing to install the worse OS of all time> veeshtaaa "dennis@xxxxxx" <dennis@xxxxxx-ass.net> wrote in message news BC177FA-FC34-4165-8865-39A760A0527D@xxxxxxQuote: > > "Silicon neuron" <sili@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:46e88814@xxxxxx-privat.org... | | Re: 3d composition that puts vista to shame It might be useful if it was reliable, however my assumption is that the videos must have been edited to remove the parts where the taskbars vanished without trace, some plugins quit working randomly and the desktops became unusable forcing CTRL ALT Backspace. 3 machines tested, 2 new and 1 6 years old but upgraded. The older is the more reliable, the newer ones, well, neither Beryl not Compiz are useful for anything except playing with. Sure it will improve, but it is not even beta yet, most of the plugins appear to be not even alpha yet, so stability wise it comes nowhere near close to Aero but on the other hand it doesn't accuse you of theft either.
