| | Re: "run as administrator" option greyed out- please help! Hi, Thanks again for all of your help. I created a shortcut from the exe, as you described. But it still won't let me Run As Administrator, either by right-click or in properties. I will contact the software company... I am fed up with Vista! |

| | Re: "run as administrator" option greyed out- please help! Maybe you're not on an administrative user's account. In other words, maybe you don't have the right level of access to be given the choice to run as administrator. I don't know a lot about user levels, but there probably are some folks on this group who knows that stuff inside out. | | Re: "run as administrator" option greyed out- please help! I have the same problem with BOINC, which I use for grid computing/medical research. Install the program somewhere other than Program Files and it works. MS calls that security, I call it a joke. (go ahead, Flame away) Just another reason I only have Vista on only 1 of over 200 machines I administer. UAC does nothing but teach users to click through a bunch of un-necessary prompts until the day arrives that a real threat shows up and you click through automatically...definately not ready for prime time. -- A Professional Amateur...If anyone knew it all, none of would be here! Get the Install CD in the drive, find install.exe on the CD, right click and select run as admin. -- A Professional Amateur...If anyone knew it all, none of would be here! I was pissed with the software and XP, but tech support got me through it. They will do the same for you, hang in there and roll with the punches. ;-) |

| | Re: "run as administrator" option greyed out- please help! You don't need to change any properties, you just need to log in as administrator Double-click the install.exe and it will install itself "Mr. Arnold" <MR. | | Re: "run as administrator" option greyed out- please help! why should I have to mess with that? it's defective programming as far as I am concerned. I can break all kinds of things and call it security, I can wrap a dog turd in a Baby Ruth wrapper, but that doesn't make it taste any better...
