I saw vista popup 'software program quit working' and it went thru the motions
of figuring out what happened.
I found this in the events. software update.. sheesh.. It's kidding right?
what programs software update failed ? HP, M$ ? Adobe, Nero, Autumn ? etc...

I believe it is Apple's software update (quick time/itunes) system that is throwing this error.
