| | How to avoid overwriting XP Microsoft advises you that to assist you in avoiding overwriting the installation of XP on your present primary home computer or production computer, Microsoft is now providing Vista Beta 2 on 1.44 MB floppy diskettes. Each diskette is contained in an individual plastic sleeve. To prevent overwriting XP it is vital that you do not remove the diskettes from their sleeves before inserting them into your drive. A product key will not be neccessary with the diskette release of Vista Beta 2. Microsoft has determined that user retention of Vista Beta 2 product keys has proven too difficult for CPP participants to master. Microsoft will continue to monitor this situation in future builds. A link to order the diskettes will be posted shortly. The diskette kit will be shipped by ground. Please allow an unusual number of days for delivery. |

| | Re: How to avoid overwriting XP Will the self destruct date be graduated according to the disk installed. If I start to install on July 1st and finish on Dec 1st. will the date for the later installed disks be extended so that I can at least use some of the program. Will they just cease to work or will it be a gradual fade out? Maybe the area of the glass coverage will increase. | | Re: How to avoid overwriting XP Micorost considered that and determined that order did not matter after all. Besides binary numerals would have proven too difficult. Which reminds me; did you know that there are 10 kinds of people in this world? Those who can read binary and those who can't. <mrstyles_@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:E4A719A2-6FD4-4245-B12B-5A89DC81252F@microsoft.com... > > "Colin Barnhorst" <colinbarharst(remove)@msn.com> wrote in message > news:ugIx9afnGHA.4728@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > You also forgot to mention that the diskettes are not labeled so they must > be kept in the original order they were unpacked. > >> Glass? >> >> "Ray" <black_bart100@hotmail.com> wrote in message >> news:BB533689-FDA9-4CB7-8439-045C16C82E8C@microsoft.com... >>> Will the self destruct date be graduated according to the disk >>> installed. | | Re: How to avoid overwriting XP It won't help, Colin. 43 new CPP'ers will stick a floppy in their CD tray and then blame MSFT when they call eMachines who won't help them anyway. Two real winners will follow the directions exactly, and when it says to "Insert Disk 2" they will; without removing Disk 1.
