simultaneous versions of explorer.exe

Has anyone else encountered this whilst using Windows Vista Home Premium...
I noticed in the task manager on several occasions 2 versions of
'explorer.exe' running simultaneously but I have no idea how or why.
I am able however to close one of them without any incident but it's
becoming frustrating always having to do so...I just wondered if anyone knew
why this was happening or how to stop it.

I've done the usual checks for viruses and spyware but they report nothing
untoward.

many thanks in advance.

Stephen.

Re: simultaneous versions of explorer.exe

Try this. Go to Control Panel (Classic View) > Folder Options > View tab.
Un-check "Launch folder windows in a separate process" (Apply, OK).
