Dual monitor is NOT the same as horizontal span. Quick way to check if its horizontal span like the OP was asking is to maximize a window. If it spans both screens, THATS horizontal span. Dual monitor is just extending your desktop on your second monitor. Maximized windows will still only be on one monitor.
Its been a year since the last post, but we still dont have this feature. I've given up on Vista, as M$ has probably done also and put their effort to Windows 7. Hopefully they include it there.
