Vista - ACPI\PNPB02F Unknown device

I have spent a lot of time (too much) trying to solve the very annoying
ACPI\PNPB02F Unknown device issue which asks me to scan the computer for a
solution everytime I boot. This seems to be an issue I share with many other
users.

I have noticed that my pocket pc usb cradle is stopped if I delete this item
in the device manager, yet it appears from other threads that this is an
issue with midi ports or game ports etc.

Does anyone have any idea what can be done?

The audio driver is probably providing only basic functionality. Check the
manufacturer's website from time to time for updated drivers for Vista.

I wonder if the issue has to do with a specific motherboard, chipset or a
specific audio device.

I have a VIA KT600 chipset on a K7VT4APro asrock mainboard with a Via
VT8233/A AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller.

I keep telling you that the PNPB02F is a joystick port on a Creative audio
device. Do a Google search on PNPB02F and see.

I've got one too!! Not Creative, but definitely a gameport device with no
drivers. I disabled the bugger.

Personally I don't care if my Device Manager isn't squeaky clean of yellow
bangs, but I guess disabling the thing works too.

Not me....must be someone else you have told about that.

And, I don't have any Creative audio device, just an onboard Via VT8233/A
AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller.

Disabling it or deleting it is not an option (I ahve tried numerous ways of
doing that) as it stops my Pocket PC USB cradle from working for some reason.

Not quite a sound card problem.
I have an SB Live 24-bit which doesn't have a game/midi combination port.
That port is on the ASUS A8N-SLI motherboard which as an Realtek audio
chipset.
Notwithstanding it seems that the port is related to the mobo rather than
Realtek because they supply no driver for it, even on Windows x86.
On my dual boot Windows XP x86 installation the driver for both ports are
from Microsoft.
Also on the BIOS setup there are different entries for disabling the audio
chipset and the ports, as if they were indepentent from each other.
I also don't care about those 2 remaining question marks in Device Manager
in Vista.
I might just disable the ports on the BIOS and that should do it.

WOW!!!! You are right!!! This solved the issue!

I had tried installing a game port driver but found that on the builin list
of device that coudl eb isntalled manually when New Hardware wasn't able to
install something, the category that included Game Ports actually didn't have
a Game Port driver.

So, with the tip you gave here I went to the Bios setup and disabled the
Motherbaord's built in Game Port (which I never use) and VOILA the issue is
solevd and everythign works now!!!!!

They apparently forgot to include a Game Port driver for ACPI\PNPB02F !

Should be pretty easy to fix on the next update.
