Re: search button in start menu

Arvind

Right click the Start button and select Properties / Customize Button.
Scroll down to the "Search" option and remove the check mark. Apply/OK.

Re: search button in start menu

hi ronnie,
that'll remove the 'start' button from the right side of the start menu pane
(grouped with other buttons like 'computer', documents). what i want to
remove is the 'search' box right above the 'start' orb, where the cursor is.
this is to shutdown conveniently using the keyboard like i used to in winXP.
TIA
arvind

Arvind

I don't think anyone has found a way to remove that search box yet?

Arvind,

Without somthing like the 3rd party program "WindowBlinds", then changing the Start Menu to Classic View is the only way I know of.

Stardock WindowBlinds

Start Menu Classic View

Hope this helps,
