Windows Aero scheme won't show on Appearence Setings

Hi,

I have recently reinstalled my Windows Vista Ultimate x64 (my hardware
config below). After instalation, I just can't get Windows Aero to work. It
won't appear a scheme under Appearences Settings list box.
Before reinstalling Vista, I had the very same version installed and Aero
features worked perfectly. No hardware changes were made.

Hardware:
Intel(R) 946GZ Express Chipset Family
Intel Core2 Duo 1.87 Ghz
2mb DDR2 666
300 IDE Hard Drive (20 gb on windows vista partition is available)

Hi TMA,

You might try installing the latest Video drivers to see if it will help. When done, run the "Update My Score" in "Performance Information and Tools" in the Control Panel (Classic View).

Try this:

1/ Ensure that you have the following registry value set to :

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Composition set to 1 (32-bit DWORD)

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\CompositionPolicy set to 2 (32-bit
DWORD)

2/ Restart DWM by opening a command prompt with administrative privileges :

- Type 'net stop uxsms'
- Then 'net start uxsms'

I've only done that in x86 Vista, so not sure how it'll play in x64 Vista,
but it can't hurt. (I don't think... :P )
