Digital Certificates

Is it safe to remove digital certificates that have expired? I have several
such certificates in Intermediate Cert.Authorities, Trusted Root Cert.
Authorities, and Untrusted Publishers.

I can't see why removing expired certificates would pose a problem. Unless
you have a local app that -does- authenticate using the expired certs. (Or
remote app for that matter... but then there'd be a problem with any app
that authenticates with expired certs.)

Re: Digital Certificates

I got really courageous one day and removed all expired certificates and the
consequences were so severe I had to reinstall the OS...perhaps I deleted a
valid certificate (although I think I did it very methodically and correct)
but the ramifications were severe. You would think it would not matter and
they should be deleted automatically by the system itself.
