Moved desktop folder

My wife somehow moved her desktop folder to her contacts folder. She is a new
user and doesn't know how she did it. She now shows 2 desktop folders . the
orinal is empty and when you try to open it it says it is moved. The new
folder is at user/ contacts/desktop and contains the shortcuts etc I try to
drag aqnd drop it back to the original folder and this does not work. Any
ideas?

Try moving the whole Desktop folder in Contacts to Users, so that both
Desktop folders merge.

Re: Moved desktop folder

Alan,

Can you right click (on the one that is not empty) select properties,
location tab, and restore default?

Michael

Right click the desktop folder, go to properties and look at the location
tab, maybe it's been changed from the default location ?

Re: Moved desktop folder

Can you right-click the Desktop folder that's in the Contacts folder,
choose Properties, and go to the Location tab to click on Restore Default?

Re: Moved desktop folder

What is the value Data for value Name "Desktop" (no quotes) in this key in
the Registry (in the right-hand pane)?

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders

The default data should be "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop" (no quotes).
