Media Center does not recognize tuner

    I have a Plextor ConvertX PX-TV402U Connected to a Dell Dimension 9200.
This tuner is listed as working properly in Device Manager, and it works
fine with Sage TV or Intervideo Home Theater, but Vista Home Premium Media
Center does not detect it and reports I have no tuner.

Is this a known problem and is there a fix.

That looks like a nice bit of hardware, but it has no BDA drivers for it to
work with Media Centre. Look on the right, under the links:

    Edition or Windows Vista OS"

Don't feel bad. My Terratec Cinergy HT PCI is supposed to be 100% Media Center compatible, but Media Center can't find it with both hands, BDA driver 'n all.

That might be because there are no 64-bit BDA drivers for it?

Oh by the way, with a powerful system like that, I bet you wished you waited
for the X38 chipset, which has just come out. I won't be replacing my 975X
based system for another couple of years though.

No, I studied up on the X38 before deciding because I could have gotten the GA-X38-DQ6. According to a number of test reports I read, the difference in performance is tiny. My next move will be to DDR3.

Re: Media Center does not recognize tuner

No, I have the 64-bit BDA drivers for the Terratec HT PCI, and it works fine with the Terratec software, but Media Center does a scan and comes up with zero channels, while the Terratec program gives me 60 TV channels and 50 radio stations. Go figure...

Re: Media Center does not recognize tuner

    Hi,

I'm using the same TV-Tuner Card (Cinergy HT PCI on Vista 64Bit) and my
problem is that the VistaMediaCenter only is searching for DVB-T Channels,
not for analog... I have no idea where to config MC for this, any ideas?

    Thx,
    SAT

If the card does not have hardware mpeg2 encoding Windows Media Center will
    not work for analog channels.
