Burning cd/dvd's to be readable on Apple Mac

With Vista I can no longer burn images to disk and open the disk on my Mac.
This is a real step backward! Does anyone know a solution please?

You need to format your CDs/DVDs in a format that Macs can understand. Macs
cannot read Vista's default format. Use Windows Help and Support.

Yes you can - please check Vista's Help.
Hint: Mastered Format (this is just ISO) or lowest version of Live Format
