    Mouse setting is NOT permanent

I am left handed on using mouse. But Windows Vista has no memory about my
mouse settings --- everytime after reboot, it goes back to right-handed mouse
    with default sensitivity setting.

    Hi Fire Phoenix,

Are you using the same method in this tutorial?

    Mouse Button

If you are, you might check to see is there is a newer version for your mouse drivers.

I have two mice --- one is Logitech wireless mouse and second is Dell
optical mouse. I've updated drivers, including using Windows update and also
downloading the newest driver from Logitech. I also tried to plug in a mouse
at a time. None of these helps.

You may have a conflict between the two mice drivers being installed together. Try unplugging one of them and uninstalling the driver for it in Device Manager so you just have one. Test it for each one to see which one may be causing the problem.

I tried to uninstall Logitech's SetPoint software (driver is bundled). It
had no effect on fixing the problem. I didn't try to uninstall the other one,
because Dell's optical mouse is using the driver called "HID-compliant
mouse", which probably came with Windows Vista.

    Fire Phoenix,

I found this thread to be very interesting for your problem. It seems you are not the only one having problems with Logitech and the Setpoint drivers. According to this thread you will need to look in MSCONFIG and deselect all remaining Logitech items. (See post 7)

TechArena Community - View Single Post - Mouse settings reset to default every time

This tutorial will show you how to use MSCONFIG if you need it. Scroll down a bit and look at method two.

Startup Programs - Enable or Disable
