Vista Tutorial - Windows Vista Editions upgrade eligibility (FPP)

Hello all,

I can find all information needed for OEM, Anytime upgrade and Volume
Licensing regarding upgrade eligibility but i cannot find it for RETAIL
upgrades.

E.g.
Can I upgrade my Windows XP Home edition to Windows Vista Business upgrade
in RETAIL (FPP)

I found some information on the Windows Vista website but this is more about
the technical aspect of upgrading to Windows Vista (clean install or upgrade):

The only bit of information I find on that page is the following:
The options
You can upgrade from your current edition of Microsoft Windows XP or Windows
2000 to a corresponding or better edition of Windows Vista by purchasing and
installing an upgrade copy of Windows Vista.

So the first question that comes in my mind is what are the qualifiying OS
(older editions and what are my upgrade options.

For example in Volume Licensing you can/may not upgrade from Windows XP Home
edition to Windows Vista Business edition because Windows XP home is intended
for home entertainment and Windows Vista Business is a business OS.

When Windows XP was the current OS there was a nice Windows XP website (How
to Buy) with an upgrade eligibilty table on which one could see from which
older OS they could upgrade to Windows XP Home or Professional when bought in
FPP.

Hello,

I have all this saved mail that I took out of my sent folder and stored it
in another folder.
I would like to resend it to the same people (one person at a time) at a
later date, but
if I use the "forward" command I will have to re-type the recipients address
on each one.
Does this new beta (Windows Live) have a simple "resend" command? Or what
else might
work?

There is no supported upgrade path from Vista Home Premium
to Vista Business edition. Use the Vista upgrade advisor for
detailed information.

Thank you for your reply. Still I am not satisfied.

Why can't I find information on the windows vista website about my options?
It is important voor an end-user to know about his options before he/she
runs to a store and buys a Windows Vista Business upgrade in FPP to find out
at home that this product is not intended to upgrade e.g. Windows XP Home
edition, Windows Vista Home Basic/Premium edition.

As mentioned in my original post upgrade eligibility for Windows Vista for
Volume License customers can be found in the "product list":

Also upgrade paths for Windows Vista Anytime upgrade can be found:

I still can't find any information about Windows Vista upgrade eligibility
from older Qualifying OS in the Full Packaged Program (FPP).

I (and I think other buyers) would like to know what the options are:
Windows 2000 Professional can be upgraded to what editions of WIndows Vista?
Windows XP Home can be upgraded to what editions of Windows Vista?
Windows XP Professional can be upgraded to what editions of Windows Vista?

This is very important information because there are a lot of people who are
running previous versions of Windows and do not know if they can and to which
editon of Windows Vista they can upgrade. They just don't know if they have a
qualifying OS for the version of Windows Vista they want to buy.
