| | Problem with Download Center and Windows Vista Since I have been using Windows Vista, I am unable to download anything at the Microsoft Download center (today I was attempting to download Visio viewer). I tried all of the troubleshooting tips at the Download center. Other details: I do not have Windows Defender on. I turned off the pop-up blocker. I temporarily turned off my firewall/anti-virus sofware (Kaspersky Internet Security 7) Any suggestions would be welcome. |

| | Re: Problem with Download Center and Windows Vista I don't even get far enough to try to pick a location to save to. I get the following error message. It happens both in the pop-up after clicking download and if I click the "click here if download doesn't start in 30 seconds link". Oops, we can't open the web page you requested ... - Error Unknown - Unknown error with URL Please try the following: Please make sure your computer is connected to internet. If you have a network firewall installed, please make sure your firewall is not preventing Avant Browser from accessing Internet. If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly. Continue your web browsing by searching the web below: "Ronnie Vernon MVP" wrote: Quote: > Sharon > > What happens when you try to download a file? > Any error messages? > What folder and location are you selecting to save the downloaded file? > > -- > > Ronnie Vernon > Microsoft MVP > Windows Shell/User > > > "sharon_kalamazoo" <sharonkalamazoo@xxxxxx> wrote in > message news:7431F65A-7479-474B-9987-2F4714CC1635@xxxxxx Quote: > > Since I have been using Windows Vista, I am unable to download anything at > > the Microsoft Download center (today I was attempting to download Visio > > viewer). | | Re: Problem with Download Center and Windows Vista Sharon Strange, I can use that download site here OK with IE7 or Firefox? You might want to check with IE7 to see if works with that browser. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "sharon_kalamazoo" <sharonkalamazoo@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:84E561F6-6709-4ED7-B84C-489BCD97B9F9@xxxxxx Quote: >I don't even get far enough to try to pick a location to save to. | | Re: Problem with Download Center and Windows Vista I tried that, too, and I get a similar error - see below. I also tried a different download from the Download Center as a test, and I get the same messages. Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage Most likely causes: You are not connected to the Internet. The website is encountering problems. There might be a typing error in the address.
