| | Sporadic CPU while i am using my computer, it freezes out of nowhere. my music, typing, mouse, and gernal interaction with my computer stops for a split second. it my not seem like much, but it happens all the time. it happened at least 4 times while writng this. what i see is that the CPU usage spikes and dips a lot when i look at he perormance tab in the task manager. i just bought some more memory (1GB RAM) which should be getting here by next week and i hope it will solve the problem. The thing is i upgraded it (to 1 GB) already before upgrading to vista and it didnt solve anything (it was doing the same with XP). should the new memory work or is there something else i should do? |

| | Re: Sporadic CPU Hi, You should determine if there is an issue with the existing memory before installing more. Click start and type 'memory diagnostic' and click on the entry in the start menu. Run the tool and reboot when prompted. You will get a report when you boot back to Vista after the tests are complete. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "eaglesfanone" <eaglesfanone@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:3552FA13-295A-4C1D-8A6D-351E3364ABC9@xxxxxx Quote: > while i am using my computer, it freezes out of nowhere. my music, typing, > mouse, and gernal interaction with my computer stops for a split second. > it > my not seem like much, but it happens all the time. it happened at least 4 > times while writng this. what i see is that the CPU usage spikes and dips > a > lot when i look at he perormance tab in the task manager. i just bought > some > more memory (1GB RAM) which should be getting here by next week and i hope > it > will solve the problem.
