| | Problem Report -Office Stopped Working - Office 2003 Pro When I exit Outlook or Word, I am notified that Outlook or Word has stopped working. When I open Outlook or Word, a windows installer window briefly pops up and then closes before I can read it. This does not happen every time but does happen frequently. In fact, both programs seem to be working fine except for these error messages and installer pop ups. The problem reports and solutions has the problems identified as Microsoft Office Outlook (or Word) - Stopped working - date - report sent. When I check for a solution it tells me "no solutions found." I am running Vista Home Premium and have all known updates and autoupdate is enabled and OneCare is in the Green. This problem began when I uninstalled Office 2003 and installed Office 2007. I spent several weeks with the Office 2007 Microsoft technical help trying to resolve the identical MS Office Problem 'Outlook 2007 or Word 2007 - stopped working. Prior to installing 2007 Office 2003 worked fine. I decided that Vista and Office 2007 were not completely compatible so I uninstalled Office 2007 and reinstalled Office 2003. The "stopped working" error messages in 2003 began then. I tried several solutions found web surfing but none worked. Finally, I reformatted the hard drive, reinstalled Vista and then reinstalled Office 2003. Much to my consternation, the error message of Microsoft Office Outlook / Word - stopped working immediately returned. I am at a complete loss now. Unintalls of Office followed by reinstalls has failed to fix this. A complete OS reinstallation on a completely reformated hard drive has now failed. It appears that this is a Vista problem and not an office problem. I say this because I have a second computer with XP Pro on it and both Office 2007 and Office 2003 work fine on it. I have a 2.8 Intel Pentium 4 processor on an Intel D945PAW board, 2 gb memory dual WD3200 320gb SATA drives, and an NVIDIA GeForce 6500 display adaptor. As best I know, this relatively new dual core system far exceeds the Vista minimum requirements. Any suggestions other than returning this newer computer to XP Pro |

| | RE: Problem Report -Office Stopped Working - Office 2003 Pro You say that you never had the prob until you installed Office 2007. With the reinstall, are you sure that you deleted the partition that the original Vista was on, and formatted the Drive, then reinstalled Vista? I run Vista Home Premium and Office 2003 Pro with no probs at all. "PJ01" wrote: Quote: > When I exit Outlook or Word, I am notified that Outlook or Word has stopped > working. | | RE: Problem Report -Office Stopped Working - Office 2003 Pro Yes - I am certain that I deleted the partition the Original Vista was on, then a reformant and last a reinstall of the OS. I was a Vista Beta tester for over a year and did not have the problems that have occurred with the released Vista. I am fairly literate in tech issues but this one has got me stumped. As a last resort, I'll try another complete OS installation and then reinstallation of all the application programs. As you are probably aware that this is a lengthy process and in my case is done over a couple of days. I spent a few weeks with emailed tech support from Microsoft Word 2007 Support case number 1042287522. In spite of dozens of suggested fixes, none of them worked. Thats when I went back to Office 2003. When the problem reoccurred in the 03 version, I have concluded that it is a Vista issue and not an Office issue. Hopefully one of the MS Vista experts will look up the MS Word support ID number, see all the fixes attempted, and provide some Vista advice to resolve this. My problem is far from unique. A google search on "office stopped working on exit" reveals many others with the same problem.
