| | Vista Files I am trying to understand/clean-up some files on Vista. My root directory contains three directories ($INPLACE.~TR, $RECYCLE.BIN, and $WINDOWS.~Q) with a total of 1.2GB of space. What are they? I have one file ("ff398120-755f-11dc-...") with a total of 11GB of space! What is it? What was the source of your information? .... Intended For Windows Vista only Info lifted from http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache...lnk&cd=2&gl=uk The $INPLACE.~TR and $WINDOWS.~Q folders are more-or-less garbage and can be safely deleted. If you don't feel comfortable deleting them outright, fire up the Disk Cleanup utility (click Start and type Disk), select the Files discarded by Windows upgrade item, and then click OK. Hope this helps. Rob -- Red meat isn't bad for you....Blue, Green fuzzy meat is bad for you. |
