Windows Update-latest batch

I downloaded and installed the latesy 8 important updates. On restarting I
got a message imprinted on the lower r/h corner of my screen that "this
copy of windows is not genuine". So I system restored to yesterday and all
is now OK. Anyone else had a similar problem or can offer any advice or
comment please?

Re: Windows Update-latest batch

You may be prompted to activate Windows Vista on a computer on which
Windows Vista was already activated by a Volume License or OEM installation:

Re: Windows Update-latest batch

I agree. I'm all about keeping things 'secure' and not letting people
steal, but at some point, I as a customer am going to say forget it and go
somewhere else. I've ponied up for my copy of legit Vista Ultimate but I
don't expect to have to prove it all the stinken time.

I'd be pissed if I walked into a store and on my way out I was asked where I
purchased everything I'm wearing and provide receipts for them.

A certain amount of reasonableness has to come into play. I didn't pay all
that money to sit on the phone talking to a computer (or even worse, someone
with a dialect I can't understand) that is giving me a hard time because my
key is already active.

Re: Windows Update-latest batch

I Just Test Installed All 35 Security Related Updates On A Clean Install Of
X64 Windows Vista Ultimate Edition RTM, And The Results Were Sloppy At Best
(The Reboot Process Was Horrible), Just FYI.

Re: Windows Update-latest batch

P.S. In My Opinion, The Consumer Product Safety Commission Should Force
Microsoft To Recall Windows Vista RTM As A Defective Product, Just FYI.

Re: Windows Update-latest batch

"In My Opinion, The Consumer Product Safety Commission..."
What have they said when you made your complaint?
Have you expressed that opinion where it counts? Or just here?
Like most agencies, they wait for a valid complaint from users.

As to a recall, unnecessary, since Windows Vista works for many.
Including you as you have said in the past shortly after you installed
it.

But then every new operating system you try is great and whatever you
leave is suddenly so bad it should be recalled.
