| | Re: New Graphics Card You might want to download any drivers for the new graphics card first, then install if necessary after you have the new one in. If you currently have an nVidia card and are upgrading to a new nVidia card and your drivers are halfway recent you may not even have to reinstall the driver. Same goes for ATI. If you are upgrading from one manufacturer to another one however, you'll definitely have to install the new driver but that should be it. -- Stephan 2003 Yamaha R6 君のこと思い出す日なんてないのは 君のこと忘れたときがないから |

| | Re: New Graphics Card Hi Gudmund, If the new card is from the same manufacturer (Nvidia or ATI), then you should be able to pop the new card in without any problems. If, however, it isn't then I recommend that you uninstall your current driver so that the driver in use is the one that was originally installed when you installed Vista, ie the WDDM generic driver. Once you have installed your new card, go to the website (Nvidia or AMD - ATI are part of AMD) and download the latest WHQL driver for your card from there. Please note that the drivers are in constant development, so remember to check back regularly for any updated versions. | | Re: New Graphics Card IF you have to reactivate, try the internet first, if that doesn't work, try the phone. Talk to the robot, read it the huge string of numbers off the screen, tell it you changed some hardware, it should activate. | | Re: New Graphics Card Hi Gudmund, I have upgraded my graphics card, processor and RAM in my machine (though not at the same time) and I haven't needed to reactivate Vista. The only times that I can think of that you would be required to reactivate would be if you changed too many items at the same time or changed your hard disk or motherboard. However, I use the retail version of Vista and it is possible that the OEM version will behave differently. If you do need to reactivate, then try to do so over the Internet. If that fails, you will need to do it by phone (the first time you try you will probably fail, but if you hold on you will be put through to an operator who will be able to give you an activation code. Just explain to him/her what you have done. Dwarf "Gudmund Liebach Nielsen" wrote: Quote: > OK, I have an OEM version. Do you think I have to activate by phone?
