| | screeching noise from tower I have a new, fairly high spec PC; anyway it has an index base score of 5.7. I am having great difficulty putting it into hybrid sleep. Most of the time it works but about one tenth of the time it either refuses to sleep ( it just hangs with a black screen)or it sleeps but won't wake up again. Either way I have to press the power button on the tower to boot it up, thus losing any saved work. Sometimes when I press the button a screaming noise comes from the tower ( not from my system speakers ). The only way I can stop it is to keep the button depressed until it shuts down.I consulted the help and support thing and it claimed my cordless mouse must be to blame, something about a conflict with other USB devices trying to turn the PC off. So I bought a new gaming corded mouse but it's still happening. I am worried that it might be damaging my computer. Anyone got any ideas? Cheers, -- darkvampire |

So that might be the screaming. The 7.10s have just been released *if* you've got an ATI graphics card you might want to give them a try. -- Paul Smith, Yeovil, UK.
