Really messed up problem

I've had my new computer for about 2 months now, and everything's been going
great....Until I got home from school. (I'm on my old computer now.)

Anyways, this new computer is running Windows Vista Home Premium. I had put
it to Hibernate last night, and when I get home, I turn it on. That little
loading bar thing shows up like normal, then the screen goes dark like it
does before the login screen shows up. Except, it stays that way for nearly
30 minutes, which is when I get mad and force shut it down using the power
button. I then turn it on and am asked if I want to use Safe Mode. So, I
choose Safe Mode and it lets me log on. So then, I do a System Restore to
yesterday afternoon, before I updated AIM. I then go to restart my
computer....Same thing happens. I force shut it down, restart in Safe Mode,
then run a Virus scan. Nothing. So then I shut down my computer, turn it back
on, and now it's been at a dark screen for about 20 minutes while I do my
normal stuff on this computer.

Has this happened to anyone before, and if so, what fixed it?

RE: Really messed up problem

Well, after booting into Safe Mode and checking the Event Viewer, it seems
the problem source is called "Kernel-Power". Basically, it says: "The last
sleep transition was unsuccessful. This error could be caused if the system
stopped responding, failed, or lost power during the sleep transition."

Something must have messed up when I was putting my computer to Hibernate.

Now that I know what the problem is, does anyone know how to fix it?

Re: Really messed up problem

Boot using the "Last known Good startup" and see if it corrects the issue.

Re: Really messed up problem

Well, I found a setting that lets me revert back to original factory
settings, so I backed up everything onto my iPod. I'll try this, and if it
doesn't work...I'll just CRY.

Re: Really messed up problem

Try doing a system repair. Boot off your Windows Vista Home Premium DVD, go
into the Recovery Environment, choose Repair, > select your installation and
do a Repair startup.

Re: Really messed up problem

Home Premium came pre-installed on this, so I could already to the repair
startup. That didn't work either, so I just reformatted the drive using the
HP diagnostic tool that was installed on this thing.
