If posters wish to post in French then they should post to the French
language newsgroups for Windows Vista at microsoft.public.fr.windows.vista.*
this group is an English language group.

Here's a more fluent English way (and less like ee cummings) of writing
that:

Hi. I'm the translator. If you are going to post in French, please send me
an
e-mail directly to advise that you, in fact, posted because it's a lot of
work to help people with their problems and look for French posts. I would
really appreciate it.

Maybe they'd like help with *their* problems from someone who knows English
a little better! 8^)

With great respect ... I strongly disagree!

Nothing makes microsoft.public.windows.vista.general a specifically
English-language newsgroup. There's no such condition on Microsoft's Rules
of Conduct page, for example.

In several different language editions of Vista, if you follow the links in
Vista's Help and Support to "Windows Communities", you will end up here at
microsoft.public.windows.vista.general. It is not unique to the
English-language edition. So this group should tolerate posts from users
working in many different languages.

I'm not sure if the French edition of Vista has a link to
microsoft.public.fr.windows.vista (I've never installed the French edition).

Sure, the poster is more likely to get a good response (in their own
language) if they post to microsoft.public.fr.windows.vista. But there's no
reason why anyone shouldn't ask questions here in French, Dutch, Swahili or
Tagalog, if they want.

Salut

I agree too Andrew, its better to suggest/direct instead of commanding the
individual.

Sadly it is very typical of some of the people here to nitpick spelling,
grammar and (Obviously connected) language difficulties and then make no
attempt whatsoever to suggest anything even remotely helpful to the OP.

I don't have a problem at all with the rest of the banter that goes on,
but being deliberately rude to visitors with genuine questions annoys me
