When trying to load Autoroute 2005 and other programs, I get the following
message "error opening installation logfile. Verify that the specified log
file location exists and is writable". Can someone expalin what I should do.
I am a relative beginner.

Re: Autoroute 2005 incompatibility with Vista

Have you tried running it in Compatibility Mode or upgrade to the latest
version AutoRoute 2007?

Right click the programs executable > click Properties > "Compatibility" tab

Windows.

Certain applications might encounter problems with the new User Account
Control security component in Vista because the application was designed to
run with Administrative privileges. You can try a work around by, right
clicking the applications executable and click "Run as Administrator" on the
context menu.

Re: Autoroute 2005 incompatibility with Vista

Thanks for help. Have tried Capability Mode but no joy. Upgrading to 2007
will be last move as I had a perfectly good copy of 2005 which worked fine in
XP

Re: Autoroute 2005 incompatibility with Vista

Check if the log file points to the c:\program files directory. That would
not be allowed in Vista. If it does just change the location to another
directory on your system and it should work. However, this is only a problem
with UAC switched on.

John,

Autoroute 2005 is working fine for me with Vista Home Premium. With
older programs I've adopted the strategy of not installing them in the
Program Files folder. My suggestion is that you create a new folder, say
"Old Progs", and install older software in sub-folders of that folder.

Hope this approach works for you.

Re: Autoroute 2005 incompatibility with Vista

Alex
Good info, but that error message comes up directly the installation CD
opens. I dont even get to the point of choosing a directory.
