| | install XP pro after vista is already installed, dual boot ?? how ? Hi, I have Vista Ultimate installed and running ok as of now but, game perfomance is 1/2 of what I used to get with XP on the same machine. I would like to install XP to another drive on my system to use for gaming only, and boot to vista for everything else. Is there a fool proof way to install XP to another drive after Vista is installed with out having to rebuild or re-activate vista ??? Please help if you can !!!!! |

| | Re: install XP pro after vista is already installed, dual boot ?? how ? That looks like it might help but, not sure. Do I need to create a new partition on the same drive for XP ? I have 3 hard drives in this machine. I just would like to take one of the other drives (not the Vista drive) and install XP to have a dual boot system. Just want to be clear, I can not damage my Vista install, too many apps I need for work, so it does need to be fool proof. Any other thoughts here ? Thanks "Andre Da Costa[ActiveWin]" <andred25@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:usEuYkEEIHA.4308@xxxxxx Quote: > How to dual boot Vista and XP (with Vista installed first) > > http://apcmag.com/5485/dualbooting_vista_and_xp > -- > Andre > Blog: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com > My Vista Quickstart Guide: > http://adacosta.spaces.live.com/blog...3DB!9709.entry > "Someone" <hotspam@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:9A207272-0B83-4F0A-BD72-AAD9C084DF84@xxxxxx Quote: >> Hi, >> >> I have Vista Ultimate installed and running ok as of now but, game >> perfomance is 1/2 of what I used to get with XP on the same machine. | | Re: install XP pro after vista is already installed, dual boot ?? how ? I do want to be able to use the drive from both Vista and XP, as it's used for file storage but, has a lot of free space. So to lock out a drive, it wont help here. | | Re: install XP pro after vista is already installed, dual boot ?? how ? Never mind, after looking it up (and reading the link you gave) it looks easy. Too bad I don't have time for the next few days to do it. Oh, well. If I have problems I'll post back Thanks ! | | Re: install XP pro after vista is already installed, dual boot ?? how ? It doesn't lock out a drive, neither is it dual boot. Essentially, what I have is a machine with two parallel installations, one Vista and one XP. Whichever OS is running can see and use all of the drives.
