| | OT: trade secrets Sorry for posting this OT message, but believe me that I've found no dedicated newsgroup, or info on the Internet regarding this problem. Maybe someone will know where should I look. [To Frank and the gentleman who sold two IT companies (sorry for not remembering his name), and as well for anyone who administers a software development company.] In my country, if I want to go commercial with a software application, I must register (store, that is) its source code at a dedicated government agency. The explanation is that we must do this because this way they can easily identify stolen code in case of legal quarrels with other companies that seem to use our own code (stolen by some employee and sold to them). For my part, I would store the source code in a vault somewhere, under my direct control, not hand it to some agency run by people I do not know. This means that I must place my company's trade secrets (methodology, code, you get the idea) in some strangers' hands in exchange for a "Registered" crappy piece of paper. Do you face this obligation, as I understand that you both are in software development industry ? Is there any other place on Earth where you are required to register your source code ? I want to know for sure if this situation is present elsewhere, to find out where I stand, along with my competition, of course. Thank you anyway, sorry for posting this here. (What country is it ? You may do a net search for ORDA or RNPC) |

Can see some MS lawyers getting upset about that ![]() |
