Yahoo Voice Chat and the CODEC to run it

I have been trying to chat on yahoo with my wife via voice chat, but keep
getting this error message about audio codec: DSP Group TrueSpeechâ„¢ Audio
CODEC

Does anyone know where to go to get it or enable it on Windows Vista?? I
tried looking for the multi media tab that the suggestion said to do, but it
is not there.

RE: Yahoo Voice Chat and the CODEC to run it

I sure would like to know if they answer you, because Yahoo! says its all
there fault. End of second paragraph I'm tired of trying to find out the
answers about yahoo! Chat and, I wish Microsoft would give us the answers
and fixes so we could use yahoo chat.

I'm very tired of looking for the answers myself and still seening no answer
from Microsoft. Yahoo, will not give any technical support for users with
vista stating it's "audio codec issue".

It would be nice since we the consumers have bought into Microsoft Vista and
supported Microsoft's movement in the advancement of technology that they
could have the common the decency to support us the consumers and help us fix
the issue with yahoo chat.

Re: Yahoo Voice Chat and the CODEC to run it

Hi,

Yahoo won't support Vista users because they haven't updated their
application software to be compliant with the operating system
specifications. That isn't Microsoft's fault, that is the fault of the
application developers. If they don't support it, you can't expect Microsoft
to. Microsoft writes the operating system and sets the specifications for
software development (SDK's). It will also include drivers that are supplied
to them by device manufacturers where possible. They do not fix problems
with software that is not written to match the operating system
specifications, that is up to the software vendor.

A while ago, Yahoo announced that they were going to release a Vista version
and a gadget too. It would appear that they have dropped plans to do either
for the time being..

I don't really have answer to your particular problem,
and as Mike said, Yahoo has been promising a new
Vista version for over a year.... still nothing.

Not many folks seem to know this, but you can add
Yahoo contacts to WLM... might be something to try.

Re: Yahoo Voice Chat and the CODEC to run it

Yahoo can't even get XP compatible messenger to work well, their chat
servers fall over occasionally, and the 'Captcha' room entry system to
prevent bots has been breached with OCR software. :-)

Re: Yahoo Voice Chat and the CODEC to run it

hey guys. i registered just to give you this piece of information. this will make yahoo voice chat work: FileForum | Vista Codec Package

please spread the word and help others with this info. also note that this codec package will enable you to watch all avi, flash, divx, etc. so you dont need to download any flash players or divx players or any of that crap. enjoy

also keep in mind that vista is a very well designed operating system and theres no need to fill it up with a bunch of crap. all the default stuff works great (firewall, spyware remover, etc). just get a nice antivirus and youre set.

Re: Yahoo Voice Chat and the CODEC to run it

I got the fix for yahoo chat. If you go to the website and install this
program it will work fine. Thanks all for the help. The link will take you
right to the program and will start the install.

Program name: TSP_CODEC_INSTALL
Version : 10.0.0.142
WebSite: http://www.bytescribe.com/downloads/...ec_install.exe

This will make Yahoo voice work fine.

Thanks again all.

Re: Yahoo Voice Chat and the CODEC to run it

I downloaded and installed it. Doesn't work. I even have the new Beta that is
supposed to work with VISTA...don't work. I hate this program, XP was so
much better. Love it when Yahoo can't tell ya how to fix their stuf and
Windows can't tell ya how to fix their stuff.....maybe we should all switch
to MAC or Linux..least their stuff is working.

Re: Yahoo Voice Chat and the CODEC to run it

There has to be a simple solution, as I got no problems with the yahoo messenger,
ider the 8.5 or the new 9, Did you go to Calling & devices/ Open the call setup assistant?? ad then go Help/ report a problem to yahoo. Follow instructions and reboot. Yahoo will then give you an update to suit your computers. Some of the updates may come from microsoft. Post back if problems persist
