| | Microsoft Fingerprint Reader Hello, Would anyone happen to know why one would get a Catastrophic Failure when trying to register a fingerprint. I just bought the device and downloaded the driver and applications from the Windows website. Did everything by the book, but the Fingerprint Registration Wizard application does not open, just comes up whit the Catastrophic Failure. If anyone has an ideas, or knows of the problem and how to fix it can you let me know. Thanks |

| | Re: Microsoft Fingerprint Reader I suspect that is DEP (Data Execution Prevention). For my system I had to add several items to the DEP exception list. DPConsol Module DpFpLogonManager Module DPHOST Module DPPRAgnt Module DPTunDll Module DPWinLct Module Export Import Utility I suspect that not all of them are needed but I was not up to change/test for som many possibilities. Right Click Computer Properties Advanced System Settings Advanced Tab Performance Setting button Data Execution Prevention Tab The button ofr Turn on DEP shout be set Click ADD button Browse to C:\Program Files\DigitalPersona\Bin Add each of the programs (not the directories), only lets you do one at a time. This failure has been around long enough that Microsoft should have it fixed by now but they seem to be asleep on this one.
