| | 2GB Compact Flash CF slows VISTA laptop I have just inserted a new 2GB Toshiba CF card into my laptop and find that the cursor/machine slows whenever I transfer files. File transfer is also very slow. The device has been identified and installed correctly and I tried removing and reinstalling the drivers. PCMCIA IDE/ATAPI Controller version is 6.0.6000.16386. The property field lists "generic disk drive" at Channel 0, target 0, lun 0- the data is the same as my HD, could this be the problem? I get the same problem with two other CF cards, one 16MB and another 256MB. The 2GB is rated at 150x, the rest 12x. |

| | Re: 2GB Compact Flash CF slows VISTA laptop How much RAM do you have in your machine? It may be trying to read those files, and your RAM is filling up, slowing it down quite a bit. -- Dustin Harper dharper@xxxxxx http://www.vistarip.com Espana2006 wrote: Quote: > I have just inserted a new 2GB Toshiba CF card into my laptop and find that > the cursor/machine slows whenever I transfer files. | | Re: 2GB Compact Flash CF slows VISTA laptop 1GB RAM but the same thing happens with other cards (16MB, 128MB). Note drive is showing as a PIO mode 4 device but the DMA option is not available.
