| | nVidia Driver and Crysis First off hi everyone, new here! I recently downloaded the Crysis SP Demo. I installed the newest beta driver (169.04) for my graphics card (EVGA 8800GTX) and played the game in DirectX 10. I shut my computer off after playing and when I turned it back on the next day, the resolution was at 800x600 (normally at 1280x1024), and my computer won't load the driver. What can I do to fix the problem? I have asked Nvidia support and they haven't been able to find the problem. I've tried system restores, and installing different versions of the drivers. If you need any more info, please ask. All info is helpful, thanks! |

| | RE: nVidia Driver and Crysis Hi Rileyw4, This is one of the drawbacks of using Beta drivers (there is actually an Alpha driver, but these are usually for in-house use only). A Beta driver is considered to be stable enough to be released, but be aware that it might contain bugs and features that do not work correctly. Also be aware that these bugs do not affect everybody, so someone with exactly the same setup as you might not be affected. What you need to do is to provide detailed feedback directly to Nvidia explaining what has happened. They will then take this onboard and make changes to the driver before it is subsequently released as a WHQL driver. The reason why Nvidia (and other manufacturers) release Beta drivers is so that they can be tested more thoroughly and on many more hardware configurations than they could possibly do in-house, and feedback from users like you is extremely helpful to them. I provide a link to Nvidia's 'Vista Quality Assurance webpage'. Athe bottom of this page is a ink 'Report a bug with the NVIDIA graphics driver'.
