| | audio problem with my sony vaio laptop and x64 problem right, i have two issues, the first one and more pressing issue is that my laptop isn't giving me sound. i went on the help and support logo thing what was already on vista but it didnt provide me with much information. i have a intel high definition sound card in my laptop(for people who have this sound card and are experiencing issues aswell) i looked on the device manager as suggested on the help and support banner but there is no question mark, no nothing in fact it says its working fine. so how can my sound card be working fine but not actuly producing any sound? does anybody have this same issue? if you do have you got any idea on how to fix it, it seems very strange. and also the volume says it is a max in the master volume setting so cant be that its muted or anything. the other issue is that slap my forehead on stupidity i installed the x84 version of vista (32bit) when i originally wanted to install the 64 bit version. so when i put the disc in it told me that it did not support the x64 version of this soft where and told me to contact my hardware manager. does anyone know about this aswell, can you put the 84 bit version of vista disc in and install it while the 34 bit version of vista is installed. |

| | Re: audio problem with my sony vaio laptop and x64 problem Issue one: no help Issue two: You can only upgrade to Vista x64 from another 64-bit operating system, since a 32-bit operating system can not do anything with a 64-bit application. The only way to install Vista x64 on a computer with a 32-bit operating system is a clean install, meaning that it will reformat your hard drive and consequently you will lose any data on that hard drive. Unless you have an empty hard drive or an empty partition on the hard drive in this computer. -- Mark Keeping the fun in dysfunctional!
