DVD not playing after latest updates

After the Windows Updates on 11-13-2007, my DVD does not properly play
commercial DVDs using Media Player. The video skips rapidly (less than a
second for each scene) until the end is reached. Using Windows Vista
Ultimate. ANy other reported problems? Any suggestions? Tried to update
hardware driver but says I'm using the most current one.

Re: DVD not playing after latest updates

If the updates included a video driver update then try uninstalling that
update or rolling back the driver to the previous version. Alternatively go
to the video card manufacturer's web site and download the latest driver.

Re: DVD not playing after latest updates

Thanks. Although I did not have any of the symptoms described in this
article, the registry changes seem to have solved the problem.

vista ultimate x64

Re: DVD not playing after latest updates

Just a thought. I have windows Vista Ultimate x64, and found that I could not play DVD's. I tried everything I could think of, including uninsatlling any programs that may have codecs in them, going on forums, and even E-Mailing Microsoft to find a solution. I finally found somewhere on a Microsoft Vista site that some computers may not accept various hookups.
What finally solved the problem was simply taking the DVI-D cable off my monitor and replacing it with a VGA cable. Right away DVD's worked fine with a great picture on my LCD monitor. Hopefully this may help you too.
