9 in 1 Internal Memory Card Reader Not working

Hi to all!!

I really hope that you can help me.

I have an HP Pavilion T730m computer running Vista Ultimate, 180 GB HD and 1
GB of RAM. It has an internal 9 in 1 Memory Card Reader (SD, Compact Flash,
XD, etc) with an USB 2.0 interface to plug usb devices like ipods, usb
drives, etc.

When I first installed Vista the internal card reader worked perfectly, I
would just insert the card and/or the usb device and it would be recognized
automatically. However after some Vista update, the card reader stopped
working completely. Nothing happens if I insert a card in any of the slots or
if I plug a usb device into the available usb port.

I would really appreciate any and all help, since I would like to make this
work again.

Thanks

Max

Re: 9 in 1 Internal Memory Card Reader Not working

Did you use Safely Remove on the card before pulling it out? If so you have
actually removed the Card Reader. You may have to delete the driver and
reinstall it.

Re: 9 in 1 Internal Memory Card Reader Not working

Hi Wandering.

I might have done that. How can I identify which is the driver for the card
reader and how do I go about deleting it safely?

The driver should be on the HP support web site..

Re: 9 in 1 Internal Memory Card Reader Not working

You don't - You just plug it in to use it, and moments after you are
finished, just pull it out. Most people have no practical use for the Safely
Remove feature. It is primarily for use with delayed write on disks, to make
sure it's all clear before unplugging. But the default for all disks is not
to use it, so there is no need for it.

Never use it with flash drives or other such gadgets. Good luck.

Re: 9 in 1 Internal Memory Card Reader Not working

If you want to be ultra safe use the right click 'eject' option, not the
'remove' but almost always just physically remove after you use it.
