Vista - Installing Micorsoft USB Keyboard in Vista Home Basic

I recently bought a new computer that was loaded with Windows Vista Home
Basic (32 bit). I like ergonomic keyboards, so I bought the Microsoft
Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000.

It was OEM, so it didn't come with a disk. I went online to the Microsoft
site and downloaded the install software (ITP32ENG.exe).

After installing the software, I plugged in the keyboard. The typical
install screen came up, and I hit search for software. It cycled through
until it came to 'install disk' to which I answered 'Do not have disk'.

I told it to search the computer for software, but it keeps saying it cannot
find any.

I have restarted the computer many times. Nothing helps. Please advise.

Try pointing it to Windows, System 32 for drivers. Did you wait till the
software told you to plug in before doing that?, Maybe uninstall and try
again.

I did that, but it was no help. And for some reason, when I go to Device
Manager, it lists the keyboard under USB controllers instead of HIDs or
Keyboards.

I have been trying for about 3 hours to get this to work.

Well, hopefully someone else here will have more ideas. I might suggest that
if it's a desktop machine that you avoid using a hub with the mouse, and
plug it directly into the back ports, but you may have done so. Front ports
rarely work out well for core devices.
