How to force New Hardware Wizard to appear?

I need to use a USB-Parallel converter cable and it comes with drivers on a
CD. I made a mistake in the installation which caused the system to choose
some standard driver. This does not work. How do I force the New Hardware
Wizard to reappear? Is there another way to handle this?
For some reason de-installation does not help.

Hi Erik,
Try this.
Choose control panel-->device manager
Click on the device that is not working correctly.
You have a couple of choises here, you can delete the device or uninstall it or update the driver.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Open Device Manager, locate the device, right click it and select "update
driver software". Now choose the browse option, and if you know the location
of the driver file you want to use, then select browse again and point to
it.
