nvidia mx400 pci video card

I am trying to run dual monitors on my computer. I was previously running
windows xp pro just fine with dual monitors. I am now plunged into vista.
Since then the system will lock up when the mx400 is in place to run the
second monitor. it does not do it when it is not installed. Does anybody know
where a vista driver can be gotten. Or have any suggestions. Microsofts
driver does not seem to work. I can't afford to go and spend any more money
on the machine to upgrade.
Thanks in advance.

Re: nvidia mx400 pci video card

It appears that nVidia does not support the MX 400 card under Vista. There are
no Vista drivers at nVidia's site.

Re: nvidia mx400 pci video card

i saw that but i guess i didn't clarify myself and i'm sorry. But will
microsoft be making any changes to their existing drivers? or is there a way
around this other than buying a new card?
thanks

Re: nvidia mx400 pci video card

Microsoft does not write device drivers. The Vista graphics subsystem is
already written. Microsoft is highly likely to tweak it, but if nVidia does
will not write drivers for their older cards, there is nothing Microsoft can
do. You can get a very good (not gaming -- but will fully support Aero) for
around $50 US. I have recently seen an nVidia 256MB 7600GS for about that
price. and even a lesser card will support Aero..
