RE: Graphics card

I'm using an nVidia GeForce 6600 card from MSI which seems to be working
fine. The nVidia driver for it
(http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/winvi..._88.61_uk.html) appears to
suggest it will support most GeForce cards

Re: Graphics card

I would suggest the newer generation NVIDIA 7600 as minimum since you have a
PCI X16 slot. If you plan on getting an HDTV tuner card then a 7600GT would
be an excellent choice otherwise a 7600GS will do fine..

The newer generation Nvidia 7xxx series is the one to consider at this
point in time. I'll second the recommendation for a 7600GS. It runs the
Aero Glass UI perfectly, plays full-screen DVDs flawlessly, and has decent
gaming capability.

Some of them even have passive cooling which would work well for a Media
Center PC. And if that isn't enough they are cheap! I picked one up at
newegg.com for $112US and am very happy with it.

Re: Graphics card

I agree, i am using a 7600 GS, and it workd flawlessly. Note though, to run
it, you must have a 400w or better power supply. If you are using a 300w to
350w powersupply, which most computers are coming with, from HP and Gateway,
and other manufacturers of the sort, you may want to look at the 7300GS or
7300GT, both of which work really well with Vista, and best of it, you don't
have to go through the hastle of installing a new power supply for them.

Just a thought :-)

Re: Graphics card

My 7600 GS works fine (4.6 graphics and 4.8 gaming) with an off-the-shelf HP Pavilion a1540n.
