My Disk Drive won't work

I can't play any games on my laptop, because for some reason my drive isn't
working. I have Windows Vista but I don't have a disk because it was already
on my laptop when I got it. I went to my drives to view what was going on and
I get this message: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware.
The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) I don't know what this is
and I have never seen it before. The drive Optiarc CD-RW CRX880A ATA Device
it has the picture of the drive and for some odd reason there's a caution
sign on it.
Please help!!!
Thank You

Re: My Disk Drive won't work

Set a restore point for the system, backup user files, navigate to device
manager and delete the device. Restart the computer and let it install the
drive again. Restart the machine. Test.

Let us know.

Re: My Disk Drive won't work

Have you contacted the manufacturer of the laptop?

Re: My Disk Drive won't work

If this does not work, Spirit has provided the MSKB link that describes what
I normally suggest as the next step.

This works for Vista also

Look at this one again and double check what you did.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

You may need to re-install your mouse driver.

This applies to Vista also :

Re: My Disk Drive won't work

these tips do not work to correct the problem . contacting the manufac is not
going to resolve issue either. the problem is with the OS, in my case it is
vista basic . i've uninstalled the device several times and rebooted. the
same events occur. driver software does not function. . . . . . are there
other possible ways to resolve this issue excluding previous posts.
thank you.

It would be unusual. Either you have a defective cable. Or the Hdrive has
not been
partined and formated - or you have not assigned a drive letter to the
drive.

But of course I have not read previous thread messages, so all of this may
have
already been said.
