| Vista Business 32/Vista HP 32 | Vista (Business x32) Extended desktop problem Hi- I have a Dell Latitude D630 With the Intel 965 graphics chipset. At work, I dock my notebook and use the notebook LCD as the primary display and another monitor (Acer LCD) as the secondary display using extended desktop. When I lock Vista (manually via 'Windows key + L' or automagically [through GP]) and then return and unlock the system i get my weird problem. When I unlock the computer everything is in the same place that it was when I left it. However a second or two later both displays go black, flicker, then reappear but with anything (and everything) from the secondary LCD's extended desktop moved to the primary display. It doesn't matter what is open on the 2nd display. It can be a browser, excel, an email, and it doesn't matter if the window is maximized or not. I just updated the display and monitor drivers and its driving me and another co-worker mad. Has anyone seen this? Fixed it? Please see the attachment for the screenshots. Thanks for any help.... |

| | Re: Vista (Business x32) Extended desktop problem Hi, I have a Dell as well and experience the same problem, in my the issue is exacerbated by the fact that I predominantely run a MS Virtual Machine on my left (extended) display and when I log back into my Vista machine after Ctrl-L my key mappings are also messed up. My work around for this is as follows: 1. To restore the screen, just right click your normal desktop, select Personalise, Connect to a Projector, and let the laptop redetect the second monitor on the left. 2. To fix the weird key mapping issue: Open Internet Explorer and in the address bar enter <alt>+<MS Button>+1 Any permanent fixes for these problems would be appreciated. | | Re: Vista (Business x32) Extended desktop problem this technique works nicely for a similar problem I get with my docked Lenovo W700, with Vista x64, and using 2 external monitors: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945459 Might also work for your issue as well, worth a try, and you can always undo the change if it doesn't work. -- tinkererguy ------------------------------------------------------------------------ tinkererguy's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/tinkererguy.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-har...ces/884867.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
