What is the Best file system for a 4Gb USB flash disk?

i have a 4Gb USB Flash disk that originally formated with FAT file system,
but windows recommended to format it with FAT32.
my Question is that FAT file system is FASTER than FAT32 for USB flash disks?
Thanks...

It would have been formatted FAT32, not FAT16 which can only address a 2GB
partition.

Re: What is the Best file system for a 4Gb USB flash disk?

FAT32 is the best to use for the flash drive. FAT & FAT32 should have no
noticeable differences in speed.

Re: What is the Best file system for a 4Gb USB flash disk?

The present devices are all FAT32. Vista SP1 will support exFat which is a
new extension to FAT that permits file sizes up to 32GB. The present
devices will not be backwards compatible with exFAT so hold off until
devices supporting exFAT begin to come to market.
