How to install Microsoft Mouse/Keybaord drivers

I tried installing the latest Microsoft IntelliPoint/Type drivers and none of
them can complete the installation.

To be able to get them to install at all I changed the compatibility to XP
SP2.

The installation is tehn able to get to the point where you are asked to
select which model mouse/keyboard you are installing but the required list is
not displayed, and you can't get any further without making the choice. There
is a window with this text:
"Important: The product name is specified on the bottom of the Microsoft
mouse."
had the same experiance with attempting to install IntelliPoint/Type 5.1 to
5.5.

I found a suggestion on a TechNet forum that IntelliPoint/Type version 5.0
installers work with Vista. I tried the older IntelliPoint/Type 5.0
installers. I also needed to change the compatibility to XP SP2 but they did
give me the needed list and they have installed without problems and work
fine now.
