Lost file that I sent home from school.

I sent home a file from school that uses word 97-03 and i use the 97-03
function, so later tonight while Im researching stuff the internet goes down.
I saved and x'ed out. Later after fixing my internet I went back and turned
on my computer and I clicked on the file except it was a previous one. I have
tried everything from the regular Microsoft Word help center so please help
    if you can.

The email is from yahoo, and i have vista which doesnt totally shut down it
does some partial shut down thing.

    So, in other words...
you opened a Word doc from an email, edited it, saved it, closed Word.
then you reopened the doc, and your edits were gone?

Did you open the doc attachment in the email, or did you save it first?
If you edited the attachment, then it's saved somewhere among your temp
files.. good luck in finding it.

You should always save the attachment to disk, close the email, go to the
saved file, then open it, if you want to edit it.
If you did this, then perhaps you saved it to a different place than you
thought. Do a search for the file name.
