| | Re: Why can't i hear another person through my speaker Regardless of whether you cannot hear anyone when you are chatting, can you hear anything when Windows launches/shutdown or an error occurs. What happens if you play music can you hear that? On the right hand side of your desktop (bottom) you should see a speaker icon. Click on that speaker icon and see if the volume control is set at a suitable volume. Also check to see if the little speaker in the mixer box has a red zero with a line through it. If it does you speaker is muted and you need to click on it to switch the speakers back on. If you have no sound at all are the speakers plugged in and if they have a powered amplifier is this turned on. If there is separate volume controls on the speakers are they turned up. Silly thing, I know but it is easy to forget to turn on the amplifier power or turn up the volume. -- John Barnett MVP Associate Expert Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org The information in this mail/post is supplied "as is".
