I recently reinstalled Vista home premium. Now the colors on my monitor
(acer al2216w)appear washed out. I downloaded the drivers for my onboard
video and still it appears washed out. Could something else affect the
color?
Thanks

Hi,
Certainly, check the monitor controls themselves.

I have done all the obvious things such as controls...etc. I have plugged
the monitor into another computer and have the same bad result.
Thanks

Boot into Safe Mode, go to Device Manager and DELETE ALL MONITORS.
Reboot as normal and it should reset the monitor properly....

If the monitor is bad on two different computers, then it's most likely the
monitor is failing or has failed.

A washed image implies that the contrast level is low and/or that brightness
is too high.
First of all check you monitor's manual and see if there is any way to reset
it to its default.
If you can't find that info, use the monitor controls and start with
brightness and contrast at 50%.
That should make things look better.
Now start cranking up the contrast until a level you feel comfortable with.
YMMV.
I have checked the LG Monitor I have here at work and its settings are:
Contrast: 60
Brightness: 90
Gamma: 0
