Soundblaster live

Can someone tell me an alternative driver for Soundblaster Live! ?
I am seriously not willing to get rid of it just because of Vista. I'd
rather go back to XP.

RE: Soundblaster live

I found this link. I have NOT tried it yet but I will when I get on my son's
PC with the same issue:

http://www.aeonity.com/david/creativ...vista-download

Worth a shot since it is useless in Vista now...

RE: Soundblaster live

Thank you. I was very impatient. I have updated Windows and it automatically
found a driver for it.

Re: Soundblaster live

Hi,

The direct Creative driver does work, as I have just fetched it.
But be prepared for some fiddling around with the sound properties and the
speaker setups.
I got some awful results at first but I fiddled around with the speaker
setup, and make sure that in the speaker properties that the checkbox for
digital out is checked.

Busyboy.

Re: Soundblaster live

Thanks. Vista did find a suitable driver, but like You said the sound is
horrible. It seems that Vista is trying to jam all the Bass and volume
despite me lowering those settings. I have as You suggested being tweaking
with it and it is starting to sound better. But I do have to turn the volume
down on every application to a very low setting. Otherwise i think that it
will blow my speakers out.

Re: Soundblaster live

Hi,
Following on from below, once I got this dell driver installed I then tried
to install the original Creative disc, whilst luck was on side and it
installed ok, but I don't recommend you do it as it lead to all sorts of
problems with my computer, mainly with rebooting, but it does work.
I landed up doing a Vista repair from the disc, this doesn't actually repair
your installation all it does to take the computer back to an earlier
working date.
