Re: nVidia 6600 card

Are you sure you are using the correct Vista Drivers? There are 2 the X86
for 32 bit Vista systems and the X64 for 64 bit Vista systems.

Re: nVidia 6600 card

I suggest that you make sure that system BIOS is up to date and then try
using WinUpdate from Vista to see if it will a driver that works.
How much memory does your 6600 card have?

Is there a problem with the current drivers that requires that you update
them?

with no luck all I get is an error telling me that the O/S is NOT windows

Yes I downloaded the X86 version after I posted the post I downloaded them
again and still get the same message.
Am I stuck with Vista's own video drivers?

I finally gave up on the nVidia drivers. I get
exactly the same error with a 6200 & 256MB.

I have not found where to post my complaint with
nVidia. The one site I did find responded it
was not for video card support, but did not
offer another choice.

At this point I am contemplating switching to
ATI in hopes they have better support.

Re: nVidia 6600 card

Hi Adrian...

I encountered the same problem installing the Nvidia Vista (X86) drivers for
my FX5200 128MB card until I read the Vista Release Notes (Page 11) on the
Nvidia site. Go to Device Manager, then Display Adapter's Properties. Click
Update Driver then search for the Nvidia INF file in the folder you expanded
the driver download to. The Vista X86 88.61 video driver made a world of
difference in the performance of my system. Hope this helps

Re: nVidia 6600 card

I did exactly as you describe and I still got
the error information as noted below. The
driver installation works for some people but
not for all. There is a problem with either
Vista, nVidia, or both. But who knows which?

Re: nVidia 6600 card

The following my sound like a no brainer but the following suggestion made
the difference for one user a while back.
Are you running a dual boot sysem? If yes is the driver installation file
on the Vista system disk and are you running the installation from Vista?
