| | Monitor Loses signal on boot up I have a Viewsonic LCD monitor. i just put a new pc together with an XFXForce 8600GT video card. The problem is when i boot the pc i see the bios screen fine. it's not until i see 'Micrsoft Corporation' and am about to see the status bar going back and forth that the screen goes blank and i then see 'No sginal'. I'm connected using a DVI-I cable. If i unplug the cable from either the card or monitor and plug it back in i then get video. I sent the monitor to Viewsonic which they said they fixed a problem. hmmm anyway i'm still seeing this proble. If i use a VGA cable with a DVI adapter i won't have this problem. While the LCD monitor was away i used an old CRT monitor with a VGA cable and had no problem. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. This is driving me nuts. |

| | Re: Monitor Loses signal on boot up I have the same monitor and tried every fix available....non worked. The problem is in ViewSonic's defective internal power supply unit. The only solution is to purchase a new monitor. This is what I purchased and it is fantastic: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001236 -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User --------------------------------------------------------------- "ron" wrote: I have a Viewsonic LCD monitor. i just put a new pc together with an XFXForce 8600GT video card. | | RE: Monitor Loses signal on boot up DId you try having them repair the power supply? how do you know the power supply is the problem? i'm not about to buy another monitor without first trying everything to fix it or sell it which will be hard. Samsung's are nice monitors. i have an old crt and it still works. "ron" wrote: Quote: > I have a Viewsonic LCD monitor. i just put a new pc together with an XFXForce > 8600GT video card. | | Re: Monitor Loses signal on boot up This is what I did to try and resolve the same problem with my ViewSonic monitor: - Installed a different video card - Installed a different DVI cable - Installed a new computer power supply unit - Installed a different monitor power supply cable - Tried monitor with two other computers running Windows XP None of the above worked. Bought new monitor and problem went away. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User --------------------------------------------------------------- "ron"wrote: DId you try having them repair the power supply? how do you know the power supply is the problem? i'm not about to buy another monitor without first trying everything to fix it or sell it which will be hard. | | RE: Monitor Loses signal on boot up It wasn't until i went to a DVI cable that i saw this problem. the new video card only has dvi jacks so when i used this monitor on my old pc using a vga cable it worked fine. i tried different cables also with no luck. the reason i'm trying to nail down the source of the problem is because trying differnt things gets expensive. i do appreciate your help. i had the same thoughts about this monitor also. i want to be able to go back to them with something definitive. thanks again "ron" wrote: Quote: > I have a Viewsonic LCD monitor. i just put a new pc together with an XFXForce > 8600GT video card. | | Re: Monitor Loses signal on boot up Had same issue running, ACER with dual DVI on XFXForce GTS 8600. Made sure my Monitor settings where set for Digital and not analog. Then booted to safe mode and installed drivers. Has worked fine ever since. | | Re: Monitor Loses signal on boot up If your new card only has DVI-I connectors then DVI-I to VGA dongles should have come with it or are at least available for it since the following spec says your card does support VGA out Check your card user's manual for details http://www.xfxforce.com/web/product/...986#openLarger .. | | Re: Monitor Loses signal on boot up It did come with a dvi to vga adapter which works fine when attached. i tried using it on the dvi cable to attach to the vga port on the monitior and on a vga cable attaching to the dvi port on the card. both work fine. it's dvi to dvi that doesn't work. this is something else isn't it?
